Scenario
Two women with very different lives come together. One is struggling to survive after her mother kicks her out, while the other runs a successful business. I don’t usually start a show unless I’m reasonably sure I’ll like it, because I usually have to finish it, even if it’s not good. And here I am, just finished watching Beauty in Black and reminding myself to be more discerning in the future. I put it on as background material and could barely finish the first episode. It took me a day or two, but then I got back into the habit of finishing the show. I admit that it does get a little more watchable over time, but only a little. It’s repetitive and cheesy, and there are really only 1.5 somewhat likable characters here. The acting isn’t great, the plot has a lot of redundant aspects, and a lot of boring stereotypes. There will obviously be a second season, but imagine if it’s more of the same?
